The GWT-TUD GmbH at the Technical University Dresden is seeking a

Postdoc in Immunology (f/m/x)

at the Institute for Immunology at the Faculty of Medicine. Our international research group investigates molecular mechanism and pathogenic consequences of nucleic acid sensing by the innate immune system with the aim of developing new therapeutic approaches in the fields of autoimmunity, antiviral immunity and cancer immunotherapy.

Job description:

We focus on innovative approaches to control the innate immune response against endogenous nucleic acids. In particular we are studying the relationship between the fields of genome stability including DNA replication, DNA repair, and endogenous retroelements and the induction of a cell intrinsic immune response via the cGAS/STING and RIG-Like receptor pathways. Our main focus will be to determine the regulation of these pathways in the steady state in vivo in different tissues and cell types by using mouse models and cell culture systems. We use state-of-the-art genetic engineering technics to modulate innate immunity in combination with pharmacological approaches.

A successful candidate will use

  • flow cytometry, primary cell culture
  • genetic engineering (CRISPR)
  • mouse genetics, conditional gene targeting
  • transcriptomics (Ilumina and ONT)
  • live cell imaging, live mouse imaging

Your profile:

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic PhD or MD with a genuine interest in innate immunity and nucleic acid biology. The candidate should have experience in life science research, preferably in immunology, with the following skills:

  • experiences with some the afore-mentioned technology
  • mouse manipulation
  • experience in writing scientific publications and grants is of value
  • ability and motivation to work independently and to develop a research field
  • successful candidates will be working in an international environment and proficiency in written and oral English is required
  • team working skills
